She rose to prominence with Ram Gopal Varma's blockbuster Rangeela (1995). After making her debut as the heroine in 1989 Malayalam thriller Chanakyan, Urmila began a full-time acting career, with a leading role in the 1991 action Narsimha. She made her screen debut as a child artist in Shreeram Lagoo's 1980 Marathi film Zaakol and later appeared in Shekhar Kapur's critically acclaimed Masoom (1983). She has been praised by the critics for her acting and dancing skills. Urmila Matondkar is an Indian actress known for her work in Hindi films.
